The Smitty's have ALWAYS been a Disneyland family.
Until this year...
We decided to change our annual Disneyland vacation to
San Diego (aka Heaven on earth)
Oh we loved it there.....
It was the first time we were actual tourists!
There wasn't a day that went by that we didn't go to the beach and marvel at all it had to offer.
We laughed until our stomachs hurt.
We ate yummy food, we normally don't eat.
We saw things we normally don't see.
We were in Heaven being together in a different place.
I took over 1000 pictures, here are some of my favorites.
This is my favorite picture, maybe of all time. It says everything there is to say about James as a Daddy....always there to make sure his girl is safe and happy. Calista knowing her Daddy is there, feeling like she can take on the world and soaking in all there is to offer. I just love this picture.
Now she found a treasure and the first person she wants to show, her Daddy. He is her hero and I love it.
This Blue-Eyed Girl makes me laugh......not just a little funny haha, but hysterical want to pee your pants laugh. She cracks me up and I love her.
I didn't mean to get her hand in the shot, but when I saw it I teared up. I have always loved her long graceful fingers and tiny wrists, her chipped midnight blue polish. Her hands have always looked like this from the day she was born, so special and perfect this hand. This hand holds the heart to many...... She wanted to touch Shamu so badly, I think she thought she really could try through this glass.
These moments I will never forget, I felt like a kid on this vacation. I thought you were suppose to feel like a child at Disneyland....this vacation, there was no planning, no stressing, and no line waiting. There was tag on the beach every night, joke telling, whale watching, not tossing my cookies in front of strangers (thank you God), learning things about our country, and loving being a Smitty!
This was the first time since I had my heart surgery (13 years ago) I didn't try to cover up my scar with a one piece swim suit or not get in the water because I worried what people would say. It is my warrior scar and one day probably sooner than later, I will have another. I also didn't cover up my mile long chicken legs. There will be no more sitting out on life because of a silly scar or chicken legs, life is too short and the water is toooooo amazing!
Maverick and Iceman
Until next time San Diego (and next time we are bringing the WHOLE family).
